A week to go until my deadlines and I'm reallyy stressed. No libraries open and I'm working all week again - suppose I'll have to have a week of work. Christmas is definitely over, decorations are down. Crazy how long everyone plans for it then how quickly it's over isn't it?!
Got two books for Christmas (another one of my small obsessions - coffee table books). One is published by Harrods and is titled Couture in the 21st Century. It features interviews with some of the world's leading designers and portraits by Rankin. Designers such as Christian Lacroix, Marios Schwab, Valentino and Matthew Williamson (one of my personal favourites) give detailed accounts of their first experiences of couture and their childhoods leading up to what fuels their designs.
(Available from www.harrods.com (£40.00))
The other book is 100 New Fashion Designers by Hywel Davies and availalbe from Amazon. This book looks at designers who are still in the first decade of their careers, either with their own labels or working within a design house. The visuals used in this book are incredible, including photographs, original design work and drawings. Definitely recommended for anyone studying or interested in fashion!
