Alice in Wonderland

I found these pictures from a Vogue US photoshoot in the December 2003 issue a couple of years ago now but I still find that they are amazing inspiration. Shot by photographer Annie Leibovitz with model Natalia Vodianova they are obviously inspired by Alice in Wonderland and I love the styling and the way the photographs include the designers - as well as the gorgeous couture dresses

Oh no...

A week to go until my deadlines and I'm reallyy stressed. No libraries open and I'm working all week again - suppose I'll have to have a week of work. Christmas is definitely over, decorations are down. Crazy how long everyone plans for it then how quickly it's over isn't it?!

Got two books for Christmas (another one of my small obsessions - coffee table books). One is published by Harrods and is titled Couture in the 21st Century. It features interviews with some of the world's leading designers and portraits by Rankin. Designers such as Christian Lacroix, Marios Schwab, Valentino and Matthew Williamson (one of my personal favourites) give detailed accounts of their first experiences of couture and their childhoods leading up to what fuels their designs.
(Available from www.harrods.com (£40.00))

The other book is 100 New Fashion Designers by Hywel Davies and availalbe from Amazon. This book looks at designers who are still in the first decade of their careers, either with their own labels or working within a design house. The visuals used in this book are incredible, including photographs, original design work and drawings. Definitely recommended for anyone studying or interested in fashion!

All I want for Christmas...

Christmas presents all bought and wrapped (mostly). Definitely gets more stressful as the years go by dread to think what I'll be like by the time I'm 40! Anyway so here is my Christmas wish list (with massive emphasis on WISH).

Miu Miu Vitello tote with stud detail. Really REALLY want this bag (small obsession with bags, really, tiny). Saw it in Selfridges the other day and it actually made my eyes water it's so beautiful! Actually prefer it in the dark brown colour, only £1,200 anyone offering?!

Don't you think this coat would be just perfect for the friend's 21st I mentioned in the last post?! Yeah, me too. Perfect for the farmer style in dark green waxed fabric with sheepskin trims. £215, Topshop.

I know it's sad, but this film is amazing! Give me this and I will be happy :D
Will update when I think of more things, which I'm sure I will

Work work work

With this business of working full time I kind of realised this morning that I'm not entirely sure when I'm going to get my Uni work/revision done. Bit of a problem really seeing as I need the money!

I'm off next week and am going to Bristol for one of my friends 21st birthdays - really looking forward to that, she lives on a farm so we're wearing dresses and wellies :D

For the past few days I've been working on a nightwear range for Evans, with a Collegiate theme. I started off with basic nightwear shapes and then designed the owl print and the college sport print along with the checks using Adobe Illustrator. Here are some of the end results (All images are copyrighted to Formark UK).

Christmas

Finished uni for Christmas now and guess what.. already working full time! It's snowing again and it looks so pretty from inside but I'm not enjoying the cold and slippyness!

So anyway I've started working at a fashion design company in Altrincham so I'll post some of the work in the next week.

Also, watching the X Factor final and then the American Music awards, I couldn't help noticing how amazing Rihanna looked in both!

At the American Music Awards in an Elie Saab dress. I absolutely love everything about the dress.. the colour, the intricate design. How does Rihanna pull of so many different looks?! From glamourous and sophisticated to this...

Not sure how you'd describe this look but either way she still looks amazing

With Katy Perry who also looks amazing!!

I'm not sure what it is maybe the hair???

Handed in

Finally handed in all the design development for the Maison Martin Margiela project! Here are some of the flat drawings for the final collection I decided on

Now that's done, time to focus on the 2 other deadlines for Friday then it's nearly Christmas :D

Little Red Riding Hood?

We had to design and make a dress which includes a rever collar, puff sleeves and a circle skirt. We went for a 50's feel and this was the initial idea we came up with and some of the fabrics we considered
We decided on the red fabric and then made up a toile of the dress
Will post pictures of the final dress in the next week!
